To meet the changing public context and to advance its historical mission, TRI will:

• enhance its translational science to create more science-backed tools for every population affected by addiction or substance use, and
• utilize modern communications techniques to educate the public that:
  • substance use and addiction are pervasive but not intractable
  • failure to address the epidemic of substance use through policies and practice is unacceptable to the American public
  • advances in science must be at the forefront of achieving real and systematic change in the substance abuse field
